Dear Marching Band Member and Parents,
If you receive this letter you are on my
registration list to be in Marching Band this fall! It is going to be a
great year.
** If you are not interested in being part of the marching
band, would you please email me immediately, bellis@bethel.k12.or.us so
I can take you off the list and clear your spot.**
FUNDRAISING OPPORTUNITIES
There are two fundraiser opportunities so far this summer. There
are several car washes scheduled for July and August. We also have an
opportunity to work at the Lane County Fair. Please contact Gus
McKeithen at Willhibands@gmail.com for more information regarding
fundraisers and to sign up!
BAND CAMP
All marching band students should plan on attending this fun and exciting way
to kick off our marching band season. Band Camp will be at
Willamette High School Thursday and Friday August 19-20 and Monday-
Friday August 23-27, 2010. Starting time is 8:00am and ending
time is 5:00pm.
All students should eat breakfast before they come
to camp for the day. Also, this is a physical class. A
mid-morning snack will be provided at 10:00am. Lunch will be
served at noon; there will be a mid-afternoon snack. All food
will be served at Willamette High School. WHS Band Parents will
cook meals. Parents interested in helping should contact Jill
Scheidell at jillagain@comcast.net
The weather is usually hot and dry at this time of
year. Dress accordingly, but remember that this is Oregon.
Bring a sweater or coat in case of cool days or rain. Bring lots
of sunscreen for marching during the day. Water bottles
will be provided to all band members to use for the season.
All staff members have the authority to take steps
to insure your safety and proper use of the school grounds. All
students will respect the staff, parents and their duties at all
times. Students are not allowed to leave the grounds for any
reason without permission from the Band Director.
Students not following the rules will be sent home immediately!
FEES
The cost for marching band is $175.00 per student.
We are requiring a $75.00 non refundable deposit paid by July 16,
2010. A payment of $50.00 is due by August 16, 2010 and the
balance of $50.00 is due by September 9, 2010. If you have money
in your band account, I will use that towards your marching band fees.
You can earn money for marching band by signing up for fundraiser
events over the summer. This money is used to help pay for
marching drill, instructors, the music arrangement, and food at band
camp and at competitions. In addition to marching band fee, all band
members will need to purchase marching band shoes. If you paid
for shoes last year, you do not need to order a new pair unless your
shoes got lost or no longer fit. The cost is $30.00 and we will
measure shoe sizes and place the order for shoes at band camp.
All percussionists will need to raise or pay $35.00 for sticks.

4). IF YOU ARE PAYING IN CASH OR CREDIT CARD, THE BOOKKEEPER WILL BE IN
THE OFFICE ON JULY 13, 20, 27 AND THE WEEK OF AUGUST 16, 2010.
THE OFFICE HOURS ARE 7:00AM-3:30PM AND IS CLOSED 11:00-11:30AM FOR
LUNCH. PLEASE DO NOT BRING CASH OR CREDIT CARD WHEN THE
BOOKKEEPER IS NOT AT SCHOOL.
TENTATIVE FALL SCHEDULE FOR 2010
Rehearsals are Tuesday-Friday 3:30-5:00pm. By signing up for the
class, you will get a letter grade and earn ¼ credit.

Trip
Every 3 years the Marching Band takes a trip. This year’s
trip will be to Victoria, B.C./Seattle on May 21-24, 2011.
Passports are required. The approximate cost for this trip will
be around $350.00. There will be a meeting for students and
parents early this fall with our travel agent to discuss the details.
***Parents please come to our Band parent meetings
this summer. We will be meeting on July 1 and August 5.
Meetings are in the WHS Band Room and start at 7:00pm and run about an
hour.
